No, our car insurance options cover all types of cars, including electric and hybrid, with the same levels of cover available to all drivers.
Our Complete Care Car Insurance® gives EV owners the highest level of protection and includes EV-specific coverage. This includes cover for in-vehicle batteries and the charging accessories that came with your car (such as cables and adaptors).
Fixed home charging stations aren’t covered under RACV Car Insurance, however they’re covered under RACV Home Building Insurance.

Charging from a standard 240V general power outlet will add around 10km of range per hour of charge. When using a dedicated EV home charging station, the charging time will depend on your vehicle's on-board charger. If your vehicle can accept charging speeds of 7kW or more, our charging stations can deliver approximately 30 km of range per hour of charge - making it up to three times faster.
